Reopening Plan

4. CLASSROOM MATERIALS

  • Each student will have an individual caddy, bin, or container of materials (crayons, glue sticks, pencils, erasers, etc) that is labeled with student’s name and is for his/her exclusive use.
  • Students will wash or sanitize hands before and after using any shared materials.
  • Other materials will be shared on a limited basis
  • All toys that are shared among students must be washed and disinfected before another student uses and plays with them and/or at the end of the day.
  • If time doesn’t allow for washing & sanitizing between different students’ use, items should be put in a bin with a lid on and removed from the room or otherwise made unavailable.
  • Each class will have a designated bin for Used/Dirty Materials.
  • All materials that cannot be disinfected (i.e. stuffed animals, blankets, cushions) will be removed from classrooms, offices, and therapy spaces whenever possible.  If students need these types of items, they will be labeled and stored separately for their exclusive use.
  • Students will continue to be assigned lockers, cubbies, or an area for storing personal belongings.
  • Students will be encouraged to bring fewer personal belongings into school.
  • Books and Magazines: Small selections of books may be available to students on a daily basis.  When finished, books should be placed in a box/bin and “quarantined” (not accessible for 24 hours).  After 24 hours, books may be selected and used.
  • Technology:
  • iPads, laptops and mice should not be shared. Each student will be given a Shore technology device most appropriate for his/her use.
  • Needs to be wiped before and after use several times daily with wipes.
