Reopening Plan

1. Administering Nebulizer Treatments with COVID-19 Precautions

To Prevent the spread of infection, including COVID-19, while administering medications via nebulizer and/or suctioning
Delivery of nebulized medications and/or suctioning should take place in designated Medical Treatment rooms.
Limiting Exposure:
The number of Health Care Providers (HCP) present during the procedure should be limited to only those essential for patient care and procedure support. Whenever possible, only the individual having the procedure and 1 HCP should be present.

Before the Procedure:

●Nurse to transport the individual to the designated area, wearing mask/face shield as tolerated.
●Perform hand hygiene
●Prior to entering the room, the HCP should don PPE: Gown, N95 Respirator with surgical mask over N95, face shield or goggles, and gloves
●Once inside the room close the door

Delivery of Nebulized Medications and/or Suctioning:

●Remove individual’s mask/face shield
●Administer Medications via Nebulizer as ordered, or
●Perform suctioning as needed

After the Procedure:

Dof gloves and gown and place in a waste container. Exit the room
●Nurse and individual should perform hand hygiene immediately outside of the room
●Place clean mask on individual for transport back to workshop
●Dof face shield or goggles, then procedure mask. HCP should leave N95 on
●Perform hand hygiene
●If using indoor space, the window should remain open for at least 30 minutes and the room should be off limits to others until all surfaces are disinfected
